Our interview with Tane Evans, International Sales Manager at Sydney Princess Cruises. Enjoy!

Can you please tell our audience about who you are and about Sydney Princess Cruises?

My name is Tane Evans, and I am the International Sales Manager for Sydney Princess Cruises. I have over 20 years of experience in tourism, working in both the Australian and New Zealand Industries. I currently live in Wanaka, New Zealand and I've been with Sydney Princess Cruises for 10 years.

For over 20 years, our vessels have been cruising the Sydney Harbor, providing our clients with the most memorable experiences. Sydney Princess Cruises is available for a range of private, shared tours, events, and functions. Come and join us on a boutique and specialty cruise on Sydney Harbor!

What initially drew you to Sydney Princess Cruises?

I love that SPC is a family-owned business, with a core focus on delivering a smaller, more personal, interactive style of Sydney Harbor experiences, which aligns with what I perceive international visitors are looking to experience when choosing to come to Sydney.

What is important to you to share with travelers about your work?

I view my role and responsibility as connecting our target audience primarily from North America, UK / Europe, and South America who are seeking authenticity and value for money when visiting Sydney. I do this by working with key partners in the market, such as the Catalina Quest team, to ensure we are delivering products and experiences that are fit for their purpose, offer variations and points of difference not offered by mass-market operators, so that our customers leave feeling like the experiences were designed for them.

What does the average traveler not know about Sydney?

It's an easy-walking city with a light rail service easily accessible to core locations and accommodations.

What is the one thing every traveler must do when they visit Sydney?

If you are staying for at least 2 or 3 nights, then I suggest 1 day outside of the main city areas. Suggestions could include the Blue Mountains, Ku Ring Gai National Park, or go surfing at Bondi Beach, and the Pacific Coast.

What is so special about Sydney?

The city is geographically blessed with natural rack formation, stunning beaches, native bush, national parks, and of course a couple of icons such as Sydney Harbor Bridge and Opera House!

Where do you feel the magic of Sydney the most?

Sydney Harbor and the Northern Beaches and surrounding areas such as Ku Ring Gai National Park.

What do you love most about travel?

So many things - the people you meet, the experiences that differ from home, and the diversity of a new town, city, and country all of which contribute to lasting lifetime memories.

If you had 24 hours to experience the best of Sydney, what would you do?

My perfect day is starting out with a Sydney Harbor experience, zipping over to the Opera House + neighboring Botanic Gardens, and ending the day at Manly Beach. But along the way, you also must ensure you sample the local food and beverage scene.”

What is your favorite travel secret?

Make sure you seek local experiences balanced with iconic sights and sounds! At Catalina Quest, we are huge fans of the Tim Tam Slam, where you bit off the corners of a Tim Tam and slurp your coffee through it! It is the best way to experience the Aussie specialties of coffee and Tim Tams!
